“Thank you for caring for Corky and Bilbo. You have certainly set the standards of how a veterinary hospital should operate!” Shirley Hildreth, Grass Valley
We Love Exotic Pets!
Loomis Basin Veterinary Clinic believes that, just like dogs and cats, exotic pets need routine veterinary care to stay healthy. We welcome the opportunity to get to know your special companion and provide sound veterinary medical advice and treatment for your exotic pet. Exotic pets include:
- Birds
- Reptiles
- Small mammals
- Rabbits
- Ferrets
- Zoo animals
Proper nutrition, housing, and daily care are keys to keeping exotic pets happy and preventing disease. Because many exotics have very specific requirements, their health can suffer if not given proper care. We will tailor a wellness plan, including regular examinations, to your pet’s needs.
Because exotic pets have needs that are different from cats and dogs, we offer special services just for them.
- Annual wellness exams
- Surgical and medical options for ferrets with adrenal disease
- Rabbit and rodent dental care
- Bird beak and wing trims
- Pre-purchase consultations regarding basic care (husbandry) as well as common problems
- Gram stains and fungal cultures, external lab work as well as in-house diagnostics, radiographs
- Reptile and bird sexing
Neutering and spaying are just as important for many exotic pets as they are for dogs and cats. Many of Loomis Basin’s veterinarians have experience with these procedures and other surgeries for exotics as well.
